More than 100 decorative column casings have been manufactured and installed by Pendock at Manchester Airport’s Terminal 2, to conceal structural supports throughout check-in, security areas and departure lounges, while providing a durable and decorative finish to the interior.
The £750k supply and install package included circular, rectangular and extended lozenge-shaped casings, the casings were designed to meet the architectural and operational requirements of major airport environments, including hazard mitigation and blast load testing.
With heights ranging from 2700mm to 7000mm, each casing was manufactured with a 2mm-thick 304 grade stainless steel lower section with a DP1 grit finish, and a 2mm-thick aluminium upper section finished in PPC RAL 9006. The material combination was selected to provide durability while maintaining a coordinated finish in key high footfall areas of the airport.
